Gabbrielle Kent is having a young teen book published and has allowed the MA group to create character and environment designs to be created based on descriptions in an unofficial capacity.

I have chosen to create concepts as if the book were to be adapted for a live action film, where the environments may be created physically or rendered in using cgi.

Hexbridge Castle Courtyard

first concepts for the courtyard of Hexbridge Castle.

necessary elements to be included in the courtyard:

• large oak entrance door
• three stained glass windows into entrance hall
• climbers and creepers growing up the walls
• grand oak tree, half bounded by a stone bench
• lawn and herb garden
• gargoyle spurting water into a pool

The first concepts seemed a bit too cosy and cottage-like for a castle courtyard, so the next drafts aim to look more regal.
